The proposed workshop will provide educators with strategies that can efficiently build literacy skills by targeting students’ areas of weakness during small group work.

Workshops connect insights from the science of reading to the assessment of foundational literacy skills and planning effective instructional approaches.

Through guided practice, teachers will interpret students’ assessment results, plan instruction, and practice evidence-based small group structured routines. 

COURSE OUTLINE:

Module 1: Becoming an Expert in the Science of Reading: Self-Guided - 2 hours.

Module 2: Getting Started with Data Interpretation and Instructional Planning: Self-Guided - 2 hours.

Modules 1 & 2 should be completed by November 30th.

Module 3: Practicing Data Interpretation and Instructional Planning - Live Session at School

Module 4: Models of Small Group Instruction - Live Session at Your School

Module 5: Feedback and Next Steps - Live Session at Your School
